I am an Aries baby, born on 17 April 2013 at Thomson Medical Centre in the good hands of Dr Yvonne Chan. I love to lie on my tummy and do head lifts to amuse Mummy and Daddy.

about my parents

My daddy is a typical Gemini who can laugh heartily at one moment and become the incredible Hulk at the other.

My mummy is a kiasu Aries who wants me to learn one foreign language, one musical instrument and one martial arts ALL before I turn 21.

*really can't decide who's scarier*

Soon???
Written at Saturday, March 30, 2013 | back to top

Mummy was really anxious about today's visit because she read that at 36 weeks, my head should already be in position for delivery. Given that my head was still not down at the last visit, she was worried that I'll be in breech position (which meant she might eventually have to go through a Caesarean section delivery). I tried telling her that my head was actually already down but I guess nothing beats seeing it on the ultrasound scan right?

The only thing about doing the scan was that Dr Chan would inevitably make fun of me (though I concede that it was all done in good humor). This time round, she said that my cheeks were so fat that you can't find my eyes! Of course I totally disagree! Just look, you can see the round black circle on top of my nose right?

And because Mummy mentioned that she was feeling some contractions, Dr Chan told her that she will hook her up to a machine next door to track if the contractions are regular.

It was really quite an interesting machine. Basically, there are two straps, one of which to measure my heartbeat and activity and the other to measure Mummy's contractions. Mummy just had to lie down for about 30 minutes while the machine did the monitoring.

After that was done, we went back to see Dr Chan. Sure enough, there were some contractions. However, to Mummy's disappointment, they were only false contractions and not the real labour contractions. The good news, though, was that since there were these false contractions, it meant that Mummy's body was getting ready to pop me out! Dr Chan's prediction was that I'll be out before the full 40 weeks.

Ohhh I'm really at a dilemma now. Should I try to stay as long as I can in Mummy's warm tummy, or should I just come out and greet the world??? Someone give me a sign!
