Having eaten at least 5 pineapple tarts a day (that's the equivalent of two big bowls of rice! *gasp*) over the CNY holidays, Mummy was rather worried when we stepped into Dr Chan's clinic today. Imagine her surprise, when she found out that she had only gained about 200g over the three weeks!
Well, it doesn't take a genius to guess that all the goodies went to me!!! =) In fact, the first thing that Dr Chan commented when she did the ultrasound scan was how chubby I looked! I took that as a compliment 'cos a chubby baby = a cute baby right? Here, you be the judge!
Feeling rather bored after a while, I started my daily exercise of sucking my arm. The ever eagle-eye Dr Chan caught the action in the scan and Mummy and Daddy both teased me, saying that I am a greedy baby.
Now, what do these adults know??? I'm preparing myself for the outside world! I can't very well let myself go hungry when I leave Mummy's comfortable womb right? *indignant*
Thankfully, Dr Chan diverted their attention by saying that I've got a nice comb of hair growing. That's right! No way am I going to come out to the world bald!!!
I was really beginning to warm up to Dr Chan, until she did IT again! She told Mummy and Daddy that at approximately 1.9kg, I'm still considered a bigger-than-average baby! Excuse me? I've got heavy bones, that's all! Mummy, please please please don't stop buying those bubble tea drinks. I do love them so!
It's another round of routine checkup today. Having listened to Dr Chan's advice, Mummy was glad to find out that her efforts to moderate her food intake had paid off as she had put on less than 2kg in the past 4 weeks.
What she didn't expect was that it certainly didn't stop me from growing! I had almost doubled my weight in the 4 weeks and am now weighing approximately 1.3kg! Personally, I'm truly happy that I'm growing so well. After all, a boy can't be too scrawny right?
But Dr Chan had to spoil it all by saying that at this rate that I'm growing, I'll probably reach 3.8kg at full term. That really made Mummy sit up and declare that she would try her best to cut all the sweets and junk food. I'm not really worried though, because I'm sure Mummy will succumb to her favourite CNY goodies eventually. ;p
After the checkup, Mummy had to return to the lab to finish up her blood test for gestational diabetes (she had gone for the first cycle just before we went to Dr Chan's). Honestly, I don't know why she had to do the test - I'm really just a big and healthy boy, what's the fuss about?
In any case, Mummy went through another 2 cycles of blood test before we left to celebrate 爷爷 and 奶奶's birthday at Vivocity. And right in the middle of the celebration, Mummy received a call from Dr Chan's and it turned out she didn't have gestational diabetes after all! Her blood count was a little on the low side though, so she'll have to take some iron tablets. But that's really quite typical for a pregnant lady apparently.
See Mummy! I
told you so right? Now please don't cut those sweets ok? Pretty please???
