I am an Aries baby, born on 17 April 2013 at Thomson Medical Centre in the good hands of Dr Yvonne Chan. I love to lie on my tummy and do head lifts to amuse Mummy and Daddy.

about my parents

My daddy is a typical Gemini who can laugh heartily at one moment and become the incredible Hulk at the other.

My mummy is a kiasu Aries who wants me to learn one foreign language, one musical instrument and one martial arts ALL before I turn 21.

*really can't decide who's scarier*

Excursion!
Written at Wednesday, March 6, 2013 | back to top

Mummy and Daddy had the day off today and decided to take me out on a shopping spree!

Our first stop for the day was IKEA, where Mummy and Daddy bought a set of clothes boxes to store my clothes.

Then we headed to Takashimaya for the Baby Fair and got EIGHT packs of Huggies Ultra Small diapers at $94 (U.P. $103.60). That's two months worth of supplies for me! On top of that, we also got four Medela 150ml Storage Bottles for free! What a good buy!

We went on to have a nice and lovely dim sum lunch at Imperial Treasure before making our way to People's Park Food Centre. Once there, Mummy and Daddy tried to look for a shop called Swanston, after hearing so much about how cheap their toiletries cost. The problem was, we couldn't find the place even after circling the entire centre!

Daddy decided then that perhaps it was easier if we tried to locate the connecting bridge from OG to People's Park Food Centre from the outside and that was THEN we realised that we were not at People's Park Food Centre. Instead, we were at People's Park Complex! How confusing! Thankfully though, it was just a short walk from People's Park Complex to People's Park Food Centre and we managed to find Swanston quite quickly.

And it's true that the toiletries are very much cheaper! Just to quote an example, a twin pack of baby powder which costs $5.80 at a leading supermarket costs only $3.60 at Swanston! You'd think that Mummy and Daddy would then sweep a loadful of toiletries there, but no! Mummy said she heard of a place called Cheong Choon which also sells cheap baby stuff and since it was just round the corner (according to a map she found), she wanted to compare the prices first.

So off we went to look for this shop that was supposedly located at 34 Upper Cross Street. According to Daddy's map, we had to cross the road and walk for about two minutes. Alas! When we got to 34 Upper Cross Street, the shop turned out to be a medicine hall! Luckily, a very nice uncle (who must have noticed how lost we looked) came out from the adjoining shop to offer his help! He said if we were looking for Blk 34 Upper Cross Street, it was, in fact, just beside People's Park Complex! Apparently, many people have, like us, confused 34 Upper Cross Street with Blk 34 Upper Cross Street. ={ *no idea who can tell the difference, really*

So we walked back to People's Park Complex again and successfully found Blk 34 Upper Cross Street, only to realise that there was no lift and the shop we wanted to go was on the 3rd floor! To add injuries to our wounds, when we finally reached the 3rd floor, we found out that the block was actually connected to People's Park Complex! (-.-)"

Thankfully, Cheong Choon lived up to its name of supplying cheap baby stuff and after about half an hour of quick shopping, Mummy and Daddy left happily with a bagful of towels, feeding cloths, Pigeon baby wipes and Tollyjoy baby accessories detergent. The only pity was that Cheong Choon did not supply Kodomo products so Mummy and Daddy took the connecting walkway back to Swanston and finished up their shopping after getting my baby powder, hair & body wash and detergent for my little clothes.

And then, to reward ourselves for the fruitful day, Mummy treated us with a nice cold cup of KOI before we headed home. *Yummilicious*

If you think that was the end of our day, you thought wrong. Because there was still a John Little Card Member Private Sale at Jurong Point! Initially, Mummy was undecided whether to make the trip or not since she wasn't sure if it was worth the time and effort but Daddy thought there was no harm just taking a look. And what a smart decision that turned out to be!

We spent about 20 minutes in the queue to get into John Little, and another 15 minutes walking around the super-packed store before we found out that the Capella Compact stroller which usually sells at $239 would cost us only $158 after the card member discount and rebate. That's a savings of about $80! So, after queuing at the cashier's for about 30 minutes, we became the proud owners of a lovely blue stroller!

Now, what an exciting (though exhausting too) day it was!
